Bulgaria promoting the sustainable use of pesticides with published guidance and listing documentation, supporting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The summary of recent publications on the topic includes the List of plant protection products authorized for placing on the market and use by active substances contained therein, as well as the guidance documents on the approved insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers, as well as the acaricides, supporting the NATIONAL ACTION PLAN FOR SUSTAINABLE USE OF PESTICIDES IN THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA. Bulgaria, as an EU Member State, continues the policy of effective implementation of the sustainable use of pesticides in the direction of gradual and permanent reduction of the used chemical methods for treatment and their replacement with alternative ones, sparing public health and the environment. The application of such approaches results in minimizing the risk of pesticide use on the health of people, the stability of agro-ecosystems and the protection of the environment through long-term sustainable development in the agricultural sector and increasing the viability of agriculture. One of the main methods is integrated pest management, which is based on optimizing the use of natural resources and natural mechanisms for pest control of crops and their products. The economic, environmental and social benefits of non-chemical methods are unquestionable and guarantee the long-term sustainability of agriculture.
