How is food and feed safety organised in Europe? Which institutions exist in the respective countries? And what are they responsible for? The reference work “EU Food Safety Almanac” by the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) provides an up-to-date overview of the responsibilities of the key players in 37 European countries. Each country has a different approach in regard to food safety –institutions and responsibilities vary, and in many countries new institutions have been set up in recent years. The EU Almanac provides a comprehensive overview of the administrative structures and governmental institutions that ensure food and feed safety in the European Union and neighbouring countries. The focus is on the assessment of health risks: Each country chapter contains an overview of the respective responsible institutions as well as a brief description of the legal bases, tasks and activities..
