Food fraud cases, as summarized by the JRC include horsemeat in Brazil sold as ground beef, adulterated milk in Pakistan, adulterated tea in India, unfit food being sold in Spain, untraceable coffee and wine in Italy, fake honey in Punjab, and other product adulteration, such as herbs and spices, cereals, seafood, cocoa, fruits and vegetables, oils, and honey. Under the spotlight is the EU publication on the results of the first coordinated control plan on the authenticity of herbs and spices launched by DG SANTE and carried out by twenty-one EU Member States, Switzerland and Norway, coordinated by the Joint Research Centre (JRC). Besides this, the report mentioned a paper on food fraud in exports from South-East Asia Nations over a period of 20 years.
