A team from the University of Pavia has developed a label that could be revolutionary. The Safer is an intelligent label capable of communicate instantly the degree of freshness of a food product which can go well beyond the expiry date (or can anticipate it if the product is stored badly).
The idea of Safer is as simple as effective: just look at the the colour that changes according to the deterioration of the meat, fish or milk. A legend allows customers to monitor the evolution of the product. Tests carried out by the team of the University of Pavia on common meat trays that can be found at the supermarket, then on other products From the published study shows that these tests were very satisfactory.
